Once we identify the technique that specifically improves your pain/stiffness, we’ll begin to build an entire treatment plan around it that uses more hands on care, exercise, and postural training to take care of the root problem.
2. Posture and Alignment
Proper body alignment is the keystone to long term strength and injury prevention. At Village, we frequently meet people who have been seeking alignment through things like yoga, Pilates, podiatry, and chiropractors but never seem to achieve what they want. The reason is because perfect alignment does not mean perfect symmetry. One of the problems with most assessments of body alignment is that they do not take into account the natural differences between the left and right side of the body.
At Village, we use a specialized assessment of alignment to achieve not symmetry, but neutrality. Neutrality allows us to operate in our natural left and right strengths without becoming so dominant in one that it sabotages the other. The best part is that it sets our bodies up for unrestricted freedom in any posture or pursuit, including things like yoga!
By improving neutral alignment, most of our clients experience an improvement in their joint range of motion and balance after the first exercise!
3. Stress and Breath
If you’re suspicious that stress is playing a role in your pain and stiffness, you’re probably right. Stress affects the tension in our muscles, the sensitivity of our nervous system to pain, and the amount of inflammation in our joints.

Village Fitness and Physical Therapy is a private physical therapy practice. This means we work for our patient directly and not the insurance company. We will not bill your insurance. Instead, you'll be given a super bill to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Other terms for our kind of practice are out-of-network or cash-pay.
